Scripture is the inerrant (does not contain errors in the originals) and infallible (is completely reliable) word of God. The orthodox (according to the established doctrine) Christian Bible contains 66 books written by around 40 different authors around 4,500 years. These individual books do not contradict each other, but they complement and explain each other. The Bible does not contain the word of Godthe Bible is the word of God. The Bible is inspired by God rather than originated by humans. The writings of the Bible were inspired by God, but not the writers.

The books that constitute the Bible were assembled according to the canon (measure) of the Scripture. It was really God who decided which books should be included in the canon. Man was only responsible of collecting them based on some canonicity principles. The Old Testament canon completely coincides with the books accepted by Judaism as inspired by God. However, there is group of books that the Roman Catholic Church considers as part of the Old Testament, but those books are not accepted as inspired by Judaism or orthodox Christianity. These books are known as the apocrypha (hidden) or deutero-canonic (secondary) books.

Bible

The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and Aramaic. The New Testament was written in Greek. One of the best literal translations of the Bible into English is the New King James Version. The New International Version is a dynamic translation very easy to ready, written in a very contemporary language.   In conclusion, the Bible is for sure the only source of God's word. Out of the Scripture is no certainty of finding truly the word of God. The only pattern or standard that can provide us with absolute truth is the Bible. Personal opinions and other non-inspired books are only relative points of view.
